Introduction to Engineering Design (IED): Project Lead the Way
(560015)

Fee: $35
Grades: 9-12th

In this one-credit class, students dig deep into the engineering design process, applying math, science, and engineering standards to hands-on projects. They work both individually and in teams to design solutions to a variety of problems using 3D modeling software, and use an engineering notebook to document their work.

PREREQUISITE: Strong math and science skills

Civil Engineering and Architecture (CEA): Project Lead The Way

Fee: $35
Grades: 10-12th

A one-credit course designed to explore the application of engineering principles in various technological areas including construction, transportation, communication, manufacturing, and bioengineering. Students gain knowledge and experience needed to effectively improve processes and systems in each of these areas.

PREREQUISITE: Introduction to Engineering

Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM): Project Lead the Way

Fee: $35
Grades: 10-12th

Manufactured items are a part of everyday life, yet most students have not been introduced to the high-tech, innovative nature of modern manufacturing. This course illuminates the opportunities related to understanding manufacturing. At the same time, it teaches students about manufacturing processes, product design, robotics, and automation. Students can earn a virtual manufacturing badge recognized by the National Manufacturing Badge system.

PREREQUISITE: Introduction to Engineering

Engineering Design and Development (EDD): Project Lead The Way

Fee: $45
Grades: 10-12th

Engineering Design and Development (EDD) is a one-credit course designed for 12th grade students. EDD is the capstone course in the PLTW high school engineering program. Students perform research to select, define and justify a problem. It is an open-ended engineering research course in which students work to design and develop an original solution to a well-defined and justified open-ended problem by applying an engineering design process.

PREREQUISITE: Introduction to Engineering, Civil Engineering, and Computer Integrated Manufacturing
